October 24, 2026SEO Pricing in Indonesia: Costs, Components, and Payment Models
SEO services in Indonesia usually cost IDR 3 million to 8 million a month for a mid-range retainer, with packages under IDR 2 million at the cheap end and IDR 10 million or more for large sites. At Bienara, our combined SEO+GEO packages start at IDR 3.5 million a month on a three-month minimum, and we offer a one-off audit for IDR 4.5 million. Every figure here is an estimate as of October 2026 and excludes Indonesia's 11% VAT.
The confusing part is rarely the number itself. It is what sits behind it. Two proposals at IDR 5 million a month can describe very different work. This guide breaks down what makes up an SEO price, the payment models you will see, typical ranges by business type, and the warning signs of a price that does not add up. If you are deciding how to split budget between SEO and ads, that question has its own guide to digital marketing budgets for small businesses.
What SEO costs in the Indonesian market
SEO pricing in Indonesia falls roughly into three tiers, and each tier buys a different kind of work. We compiled the ranges below from pricing pages published by local agencies as of October 2026, before VAT.
| Tier | Monthly range | What it usually includes |
|---|---|---|
| Budget | IDR 500k to 2 million | A fixed number of articles or backlinks, automated ranking reports, rarely a technical audit |
| Mid-range | IDR 3 million to 8 million | Technical audit, fixes to core pages, a few articles a month, Search Console monitoring, monthly report |
| Upper | IDR 10 million to 25 million+ | Large or multilingual sites, high content volume, heavy technical work, handled by more than one person |
A note on promotional pricing: many agency pricing pages show a struck-through price, and the promo rate is often only 40-60% of the regular one. Compare what you will pay once the promo ends, because that is the number on every invoice after it.
Some agencies now sell GEO (generative engine optimization) as a separate service. GEO is the work of getting your site cited in AI answers such as Google's AI Overviews, ChatGPT, or Perplexity. Sold on its own, it typically runs IDR 7.5 million to 12 million a month, so buying SEO and GEO from two different vendors can double the total.
What goes into an SEO price
An SEO fee is essentially paid time across five kinds of work. The more of each, the higher the price.
- Technical audit and fixes. Page speed, pages that are not indexed, broken redirects, sitemaps, and structured data (schema). Heavy in the first month, then mostly maintenance.
- Content. Writing new articles or reworking existing pages. This is the most expensive part because it needs proper research and writing.
- Keyword research and planning. Deciding which pages to pursue and which questions to answer.
- Links and mentions from other sites. Healthy ones come from real relationships such as industry directories, local media, or partners. Cheap ones usually mean hundreds of links from sites nobody reads.
- Monitoring and reporting. Search Console, GA4, keyword positions, and now whether the site is being cited in AI answers.
If a proposal only says "on-page optimization" and "off-page optimization" without naming how many pages, how many articles, or what will be fixed, ask for a breakdown. Without a list of the actual work, two SEO quotes cannot be compared fairly.
How SEO is usually paid for
There are four common models, each suited to a different situation.
| Model | How you pay | Best for |
|---|---|---|
| Monthly retainer | A fixed monthly fee, usually with a minimum term | Businesses that need regular content and long-term monitoring |
| One-off audit | Paid once, delivers a report and a fix list | Teams that can execute in-house, or owners who want to know where the site stands first |
| Per project | A fixed price for a defined scope, such as a site migration or rewriting 20 pages | Work with a clear start and finish |
| Performance-based | Paid per ranking gain or per lead | Rarely healthy for small businesses, because rankings can be chased on keywords nobody searches |
A three-month minimum is reasonable, because changes to a site usually take a few months to show in Google. Pages need to be recrawled, and new content needs time to climb. What deserves suspicion is a twelve-month contract with no way out.
Bienara's SEO pricing
We publish our prices so you can compare without asking for a proposal first. Every package combines SEO and GEO, so work for Google search results and for AI answers happens together. Prices exclude 11% VAT.
| Package | Price | Main scope |
|---|---|---|
| Foundation | From IDR 3.5 million/month | Technical audit, around 4 new articles or page reworks a month, schema and llms.txt, Search Console monitoring, monthly report |
| Growth | IDR 6.5 million/month | Around 8 articles or reworks a month, AI citation and AI Overview monitoring, a content calendar built on real search demand |
| Custom | From IDR 10 million/month | Scope built around your needs, for example multilingual sites or online stores with thousands of products |
| SEO+GEO audit | IDR 4.5 million, one-off | A report on technical health, content, and visibility in AI answers, plus a prioritized fix list. Credited against your first invoice if you continue to a retainer |
The minimum term is three months, with 10% off if you pay six months upfront. About llms.txt in the Foundation package: it is a short file at the root of your site that summarizes the site for AI systems. Not every AI system reads it yet, so we treat it as a supplement, not something to rely on.
What a retainer covers week by week is laid out in our article on monthly SEO services, and the service overview is on our SEO services page.
Price ranges by business type
Every business is different, but here is a rough guide.
Local businesses with small sites
Clinics, workshops, contractors, or service businesses covering one or two cities, with fewer than 30 pages. The main work is tightening service pages and writing a handful of articles that answer what prospects actually ask. The Foundation package is usually enough. If someone on your team can carry out fixes, a one-off audit at IDR 4.5 million is a sensible starting point.
B2B companies that need steady content
Distributors, manufacturers, or B2B services whose buyers research before they get in touch. Content is the main job here: complete product pages, technical articles, and answers to very specific questions. Around 8 articles or reworks a month on the Growth package usually makes more sense than 4.
Online stores and multilingual sites
Hundreds or thousands of product pages, categories, filters, and sometimes an English version. The technical work is much heavier: duplicate pages, language tags (hreflang), and category structure. A budget of IDR 10 million and up is normal, and the scope should be priced on the number of pages that genuinely need work.
What pushes the price up or down
- The current state of the site. A slow site, lots of error pages, or a heavy template means more technical work upfront. Sometimes rebuilding is cheaper, which is a different calculation covered in our article on website costs.
- Keyword competition. Chasing a national service keyword is far harder than one tied to a city or a specific product type.
- Who supplies the raw material. If your team can provide project photos, product specs, or technical answers, costs go down and the content gets stronger.
- Access to the site. A vendor who can edit the site directly moves faster than one waiting in line for another developer.
- Number of languages and locations. Each extra language or city means more pages to write and monitor.
Signs an SEO price does not add up
Cheap is not automatically bad, and expensive is not automatically good. What to watch for is a promise nobody can stand behind.
- Guaranteed page one or position one. Google itself states that no one can guarantee a number one ranking on Google.
- Hundreds of backlinks for a low price. Large volumes of links from irrelevant sites can be treated as spam by Google and end up hurting you. More on that in our article on buying backlinks safely.
- Reports that only show rankings. Without clicks, leads, or a list of pages fixed, you cannot tell what you actually paid for.
- Refusing to explain the work. "Secret techniques" usually means the work is not meant to be looked at.
- Long contracts with no exit. If nothing has visibly changed by month three, you should be able to stop.

Frequently asked questions
How much does SEO cost per month in Indonesia?
A mid-range SEO retainer in Indonesia usually costs IDR 3 million to 8 million a month as of October 2026. Bienara's SEO+GEO packages start at IDR 3.5 million a month, before VAT.
Does the SEO fee include ad spend?
No. SEO covers organic search results, while Google or Meta ads have their own budget paid directly to the platform. If a vendor rolls both into a single number, ask them to separate it.
How long until SEO shows results?
Usually a few months, depending on the state of the site and how competitive the keywords are. Technical fixes can show up in Search Console within weeks, but more leads take longer. That is why our minimum term is three months, not one.
Should I start with an audit or go straight to a retainer?
If you are not sure where your site stands, or you have an in-house team that can do the work, start with an audit. At Bienara the audit fee is credited if you continue to a retainer, so you do not pay twice.
Want a number for your site?
Send us a WhatsApp with your site address, type of business, and the city or market you want to reach. We reply within 1-2 business days with a suggested package and the part worth fixing first. If your site does not need a retainer yet, we will say so. No hard sell.
